Our rescued residents at Redwings Ada Cole received a tasty treat from Pink Lady Apples this week!
The company kindly donated trays of their apples to our rescued horses and donkeys – as well as made a monetary donation towards their care – inspired by a letter written by three pony-loving girls from Essex.
Recently Pink Lady received a letter from three little girls who explained that their pony, Mac, loves snacking on the rosy fruit. Mac had been previously mistreated and now the girls lavish him with love!
The team at Pink Lady were so impressed that they arranged a special delivery of apples for Mac and then, touched by his story, they decided to make a donation to a local charity that helped other neglected horses and donkeys get back on their feet.
As you can see above, our donkey herd couldn’t wait for a tasty bite!
Debbie Scott, Head of Fundraising, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to Pink Lady for their generous donation. It’s fantastic to hear of the wonderful life Mac enjoys with his young owners, but sadly we have so many horses and donkeys in our care that haven’t had such loving starts to their lives and this donation is a wonderful way of supporting them.
“We can use the contribution from Pink Lady to fund 100 nutritious feeds for our horses or buy enough hay to feed over 30 of our rescued residents for a whole month. As a charity 100% funded by donations, this will make a real difference.”
If you’d like to make a donation of treats, such as apples or carrots, when you next visit one of our centres, please make sure to drop them off at our welcome desks. Due to their difficult pasts, some of our rescued residents have to follow special diets so our teams will make sure the treats are distributed amongst those who can enjoy them.
