“I wanted to do something practical to support the charity and I like the thought of two horses keeping warm and dry with my help this winter”, said thoughtful Redwings supporter Debbie Joseph last year when she donated two lovely new rugs to our residents.
One year on, Debbie has again blown us away with her generosity by treating not just two but four of our rescued horses to new rugs.
Zena was one of the lucky horses to receive a rug, and doesn’t she look stunning in it? We especially love the cute fox print!
Zena was born at Redwings after her mum Ilesh was rescued while in foal. Ilesh arrived at Redwings in 2010 in a group of 16 horses and ponies. The group’s owner had sadly passed away and the family were worried about the future welfare of the horses. Redwings were contacted for help and considering the difficult personal circumstances of the family offered homes to the group.
Ilesh was rehomed via our Guardianship scheme and Zena is currently following in her mum’s footsteps by undergoing training at our rehoming centre. But, until she’s ready to find a new home, Zena will be making the most of her cosy new rug at Redwings, and as you can see she’s chuffed with it!
We are so lucky to have such wonderful supporters, we couldn’t do the work we do without #RedwingsAngel like Debbie! If you would like to donate an item to help us care for our horses or for us to sell to raise funds for our residents email our Gifts in Kind Manager Anne on agalloway@redwings.co.uk.
