The Redwings Feed Run relaunched!

We know a lot of people are using the New Year as an opportunity to get moving and try new exercise regimes. In case you needed any more motivation - how about taking part in The Redwings Feed Run and helping feed rescued horses and donkeys this winter?

The original challenge was to complete ‘10k your way’ but we know that completing 10k right now might be a little tricky so our new motto is ‘The Redwings Feed Run – do it your way and have fun!’

Your challenge is to complete 60 minutes of exercise (that’s roughly the same time it takes to run 10km!) and then donate £10 to Redwings. Your 60 minutes can be completed any way you enjoy and is safe to do so - including at home workouts! You don’t even have to do it in one go.

Once you’ve completed your 60 minutes head to our JustGiving page to donate £10. Your £10 donation - roughly the amount it costs to buy a large bag of horse feed - will then help us provide for our hungry herds. This is particularly timely during winter when our grazing is more limited and more of our residents will need extra specialist feeds.

We’d love you to share your success on social media and nominate a friend to be the next one to complete the challenge too! We’d love to see your photos too, make sure you tag Redwings on social media to be featured in our ‘Finishers’ Gallery’.

Meet Ruby

Your donation will help us feed residents like Ruby. Ruby is 32 years old and is the oldest resident at Redwings Ada Cole. Due to her age Ruby has poor teeth that mean she is unable to eat hay, so she must receive tasty feeds to ensure she gets all the nutrients she needs.

In the winter Ruby is fed up to five times a day – something we wouldn’t be able to do without your help! Donations such as those raised by The Redwings Feed Run help us to fund these nutritious meals, and our team to deliver them.

If you complete the challenge you will be able to meet Ruby and her friends as we invite you along on a special virtual Feed Run across our Sanctuary sites. You will receive an exclusive link to watch this special Feed Run and meet just some of the grateful residents who will benefit from your hard work!

A Big Thank You!

We must say a huge thank you to our friends at SPILLERS. They have supported The Redwings Feed Run by donating £2,500 of horse feed to Redwings – a huge gift which is especially appreciated this time of year! Thanks to their kind donation, The Redwings Feed Run has currently helped us raise almost £3,500 – a huge boost as we continue to count the cost of the coronavirus pandemic on our fundraising.
