On behalf of everyone at Redwings, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
While most of us may never have had the opportunity to actually meet her, or perhaps only had the chance to catch a glimpse of her at a royal engagement, she has been a constant and comforting presence in our lives and a figurehead of our national identity for as long as many of us can remember and she will be greatly missed.
At Redwings, we will remember the Queen most fondly for her love of horses and passion for equine welfare through her patronage of organisations such as the British Horse Society. When images of her riding one of her beloved Fell ponies would appear - an activity she continued well into her nineties - they would always bring a smile to my face seeing the obvious enjoyment and respect she had for these beautiful creatures.
Seeing this passion passed on to future generations, in particular her daughter Anne, The Princess Royal - who I've been lucky enough to meet with to discuss issues of equine welfare on multiple occasions - has and continues to help shine a spotlight on why horses deserve to be treasured.
Our thoughts are with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who have lost the cherished head of their family, as well as a nation, which mourns a much-loved monarch who carried out her service with dignity for over 70 years.
Rest in peace, Your Majesty. Thank you for your service and tireless dedication to our nation.
