We’re delighted to introduce adorable donkey duo Orchid and Lucy who are the latest arrivals at our Scottish visitor centre, Redwings Mountains.
The beautiful mum and daughter came to Redwings in April following a request from their owners who were sadly no longer able to care for them. At Redwings, we have an open door policy for these lovable long-eared creatures due to donkeys’ complex care needs so we were more than happy to welcome the pair to the Sanctuary.
Orchid, who is 20, and Lucy, eight, have already settled well into their new home, chasing each other around their field, enjoying rolls on the grass and, importantly, receiving their first cuddles from visitors.
They’ve also been making lots of new friends within Redwings Mountains’ resident donkey herd, including our lovely Adoption Star Minnie. As a fellow mum to cheeky donkey Mouse, Minnie has a lot in common with Orchid!
Make sure to give Orchid and Lucy a big welcoming hug during your next trip to our Mountains Visitor Centre. The friendly pair are already learning the ropes of saying hello to visitors – your only problem may be telling them apart!
Redwings Mountains, near Forfar, Angus, is open throughout the year Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, 10am to 4pm (closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays).
