It's National Apprenticeship Week!
We love to showcase the amazing work our teams do every day, so throughout this week we’ll be speaking to some of our apprentices who have kindly offered to share news on their current courses with us.
But first we’re going to kick start the week with our Head of People, Debbie, who as part of her role oversees the training opportunities we can offer, and she had nothing but praise about our fantastic apprentices and how the scheme helps our organisation…
"Here at Redwings, we offer a variety of apprenticeship roles from equine to leadership and vet nurse to maintenance! There are qualifications across various departments so there’s something for everyone and we’re always open to seeing what other courses are available.
"We work hard to find providers who understand our work and align with our values. We also love to find those niche courses, much like the vet nurse apprenticeship!
"These training opportunities are so valuable to welcome new starters into the organisation, and the wonderful world of animal care and welfare, as well as develop the roles and skills of existing staff members. This certificate is with you for life so looks good on your CV as well as helping with future career plans.
"We understand that everyone learns and works in different ways and not many would like, or even have the opportunity, to go down the ‘traditional’ university route to earn a formal qualification. Apprenticeship courses can have lots of practical work involved which is a preferred form of learning for many.
"We are proud to offer this chance of self-development, for example, the knowledge and awareness of equine alignments and behaviour our apprentices have learned has been valuable to bring to their day-to-day roles, and has helped support colleagues with their daily routines.
"It can also provide variety by giving them the chance to be creative to plan and produce exciting projects. Such as Georgia from the Communications team who has been writing monthly blogs on our social media to help celebrate our Ruby Anniversary as part of her Content Creator apprenticeship.
"You see a sense of achievement from those that have never had a formal qualification before. It’s very rewarding that we are able to provide that.
"Like many qualifications, some elements of the course may be more challenging than others. We can support those who need and want help and also support those with learning difficulties and neurodiversities.
"I don’t think many organisations would go through all the effort like we do to help staff through their training - or even offer apprenticeships in the first place! It’s very rewarding.”
Don’t forget to keep checking back throughout the week as our apprentices take over and share their stories.
