Soak up the beautiful Angus countryside and meet friendly rescued horses and donkeys nose-to-nose when Redwings Mountains opens on Good Friday, 25th March 2016.
Since our merger with Mountains Animal Sanctuary in early 2015, the Scottish centre has been closed to visitors while we carry out essential maintenance and refurbishment work, but it is now ready to welcome supporters new and old.
Set in 220 acres of beautiful paddocks and woodland near Forfar in Angus, Redwings Mountains provides a place of sanctuary to 90 horses, ponies and donkeys – not forgetting two sheep called Toffee and Treacle, as well as bountiful wildlife including red squirrels and mountain birds.
Among the Redwings Mountains’ residents are Gibson and Minnie who we’re delighted to announce as two brand-new Adoption Stars!
Gibson Fraser was named in memory of the late Mountains Animal Sanctuary founder Alan Fraser and arrived at the sanctuary in July 2014 when his mum passed away soon after his birth – he was just two-days-old. Find out more about this wee chap here.
Eight-year-old skewbald donkey Minnie lives with her son Mouse and is part of a whole herd of donkeys at Redwings Mountains. She’s an incredibly friendly lassie who is always first to the fence to say hello. Click here to adopt Minnie today! A year's adoption of Gibson or Minnie costs just £12.50 and is a great way to support our charity – find out more about our Adoption Scheme here.
From Good Friday, Redwings Mountains will be open 10am to 4pm every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday all year round (closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays). As well as free entry, the centre has free parking, is dog friendly and offers refreshments and a gift shop. We look forward to seeing you soon!
