Two veteran ponies were living in a herd at Redwings when a loud fireworks display was held in a neighbouring field. Sprite developed such severe colic that there was nothing the Redwings vets could do but put him to sleep where he lay. Percy sustained a serious elbow injury and non-weight bearing lameness. His pain levels didn’t respond to medication and again, there was no humane option other than to put Percy to sleep.

“During all my years of working at Redwings, I have never had to put two ponies to sleep in one evening in the same field as a result of an emergency situation. It was a devastating loss to the team and to the Sanctuary.”
