#CoronaChronicles 2021: Week 16

It’s sweet 16 once again for the #CoronaChronicles and we’re celebrating this week by announcing that you can now book your tickets to visit Redwings!

Our visitor centres will be reopening from Friday 30^th April. We can’t wait to see you!

Redwings Aylsham and Redwings Caldecott, both in Norfolk, will be opening every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10.30am to 4pm. Paddock walks will close at 3pm, but the gift shops and cafes will be remaining open until 4pm.

The donkeys at Redwings Caldecott are already lining up to see you!

Our remaining visitor centres are also looking forward to welcoming you back, but this will be on a more limited basis for the time being.

Redwings Ada Cole in Essex, Redwings Oxhill in Warwickshire, and Redwings Mountains in Angus, Scotland, will be offering private visits on Fridays and Mondays, which can be booked directly with the team at the relevant centre.

They will also be opening up to the public for one weekend per month, with the first of these taking place on Saturday 29^th May – Sunday 30th May. For these weekends, we will be asking you to pre-book tickets via our online booking system.

We’d like to say a big thank you to all our teams who have been busy readying our centres so we can safely welcome you back.

Entry remains free to all our centres, but we would, of course, welcome donations towards the care of our rescued residents.

As well as our horses and donkeys, did you know there’s a wide array of wildlife that also calls Redwings home? In honour of this week’s Earth Day, we thought we’d give you an insight into what wonderful creatures you could look out for during your visit.

With its acres of woodland, Redwings Mountains is well known for its population of red squirrels! It’s also common to spot deer and mountain birds.

Just one of the wildlife ponds you can explore at Redwings Aylsham.

Redwings Aylsham has two beautiful wildlife ponds you can stroll around. Over time, they’ve been a haven for a variety of butterflies, swans, herons and even kingfishers!

Even our little pond at our Norfolk headquarters has been supporting new life. We recently captured this adorable photo of the first ducklings of the year.

Redwings Caldecott is also doing its part to support the environment. As part of a major renovation project at the visitor centre two years ago, we installed new solar panels which, in March 2021 alone, provided a third of all the power used at the site!

This is just one of the ways we have and continue to work to ensure our operations remain as sustainable as possible.

We always like to finish the #CoronaChronicles on a heartwarming note, so we thought we would end this week’s edition with a short video, shot on a mobile phone a few years ago, of a very special encounter with another animal that enjoys the peace of the wildlife ponds at Redwings Aylsham.
