The fine spring weather appears to have disappeared this week and we thought some cheering up might be in order...so here are some lovely photos of donkeys!
Over the Easter school holidays, we’ve been offering free online activities for our young supporters all about our lovable long-eared residents.
We know many of you have been missing seeing them over the last year so what better way to start today’s blog then with this recent selection of adorable images.
There’s not much longer to wait until you can enjoy spending time with our horses and donkeys again.
With the Government giving the go ahead for outdoor attractions to reopen from next week, we can confirm that final preparations are underway to welcome back visitors to our centres from Friday 30th April. We’ll be releasing more details later this month!
One pony, in particular, is making sure he’s looking his very best to greet his supporters.
You may remember Star from Redwings Oxhill in last week’s #CoronaChronicles who was modelling his new sweet itch rug. Well, not to be outdone, Amigo from Redwings Aylsham has been getting ready to don his own special UV rug.
Amigo was rescued by the RSPCA in 2011 having been cruelly abandoned on the site of an old colliery. He was barely able to stand due to extensive liver damage which had caused terrible problems with his skin – he had effectively become allergic to sunlight!
Due to his complex care needs, the RSPCA asked if we could offer Amigo a permanent home and we happily accepted. Due to his liver damage, in sunnier months he wears specialist sun cream on his muzzle, as well as a lightweight protective UV rug and hood, which ensure he can safely spend time outdoors with his friends and enjoy plenty of cuddles from visitors.
While we can’t visit the hairdressers and barbers just yet, Amigo was lucky enough to enjoy a mane trim from his carers last week to help his rug and hood fit comfortably all summer long. What a good boy!
We hope you all enjoyed a lovely Easter. We received so many heartwarming images from across the Sanctuary that we couldn’t share all of them with you last week. So, for anyone fondly thinking back to the long weekend, we’ll end today’s blog with this adorable video shot by the care team at one of our Norfolk sanctuary sites. We hope it helps raise a smile!
Thank you #RedwingsAngels
