Week 10! We’ve hit double figures once again!
Who knew, as we celebrated the beginning of another year, that we would find ourselves navigating another lengthy lockdown? We hope you remain safe and well.
While the countdown back to normality may still seem a long way off, we have some happy news to share today; we can now announce the proposed reopening date for our visitor centres!
After careful consideration, we are hoping to be able to welcome supporters once again from Friday 30th April.
This is, of course, dependent on Government guidelines at the time, but hopefully it won’t be too long until you can be reunited with your favourite Redwings resident.
Many of the safety measures we put in place last summer, including pre-booked ticketed entry and social distancing, will still apply but we are finalising those details now. We’ll let you know as soon as we can when tickets are available so you can reserve your visiting slot!
And if you live too far away to visit one of our centres, don’t worry! You’ll still be able to enjoy stories and images from across the Sanctuary on our social media channels, you can keep in touch with your Adoption Star through their online blog, and you can make a real difference to the care of our rescued residents by purchasing items through our online gift shop.
This week we’ve also revealed some news about this year’s Adoption Star birthday parties.
If you sponsor one of our Adoption Star horses or donkeys, you know that we throw a party every year for each of their birthdays at the visitor centres where they live.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 forced us to cancel all celebrations last year, and with the continued unpredictability of the pandemic, we have had to accept that it would be unsafe to bring back the parties at this time.
However, there are plenty of ways you can still get involved from home! You can email us a birthday message or picture, help us design our Adoption Stars’ birthday cakes or even purchase a gift from their individual Amazon Wishlists, full of items and treats they would love!
Click here for all the details and to view the Wishlists for those celebrating their birthdays in April – adorable Shetland pony Tinkerbell and beloved retired Adoption Star Muffin the mule, who will be turning the grand age of 34!
As we excitedly look forward to opening our doors once again, it felt fitting to end this week’s blog with a collection of wonderful images recently taken at our visitor centres.
Have we included your favourite Redwings resident?
Thank you #RedwingsAngels
