We're delighted that our Caldecott visitor centre in Norfolk has been honoured at this year's Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Awards.
Redwings Caldecott, near Great Yarmouth, was presented with two awards by the Greater Yarmouth Tourism and Business Improvement Area at a special ceremony on Wednesday 21st March, which celebrated the best in tourism excellence from across the borough.
We were presented with the Working Team award for the promotion and delivery of our activities for families, in particular our popular Summer Club which offers free fun and educational sessions for children aged 7-11 during the school summer holidays, giving a unique glimpse into the world of Redwings and providing top tips on how to care for horses and donkeys.
We also took home the award for best Marketing Campaign for the sensitive way new Adoption Star Fox was introduced onto our Adoption Scheme as a replacement for much-beloved Shire horse called Poppy, who sadly died very suddenly last year.
Janet Arlow, Visitor Centre Manager, said: “I’m incredibly proud to be part of the team at Redwings Caldecott. Everyone works incredibly hard to take care of our rescued residents, but we’re also equally passionate about ensuring our visitors have a wonderful time and, importantly, go away with a better understanding of equine welfare.
“While it’s Redwings Caldecott that has been honoured today, I know this same enthusiasm can be found at Redwings’ visitor centres across the country and I would urge anyone with an interest in horses or animals, or who is simply looking for a lovely day out, to pop into their nearest visitor centre.”
All of our visitor centres are open every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 10am to 4pm, and entry is free!
