It’s been a whole year since we welcomed Arya and her Poitou donkey companions into the Sanctuary so if you haven’t visited the special family group yet at Redwings Oxhill visitor then do pop in to meet the fluffiest donkeys imaginable!
Arya has settled in wonderfully well at our Oxhill centre and is a real favourite with staff and visitors.
Having very sadly lost her mum Millie to an incurable lameness condition in January, we have been keeping a very close eye on this special young lady to ensure she adjusted to life without mum. Thankfully Arya has coped well with her loss, thanks in no small part to the close companionship of her best friend Merlin and his mum Adele, as well as the specialist donkey knowledge of Redwings’ vets and staff.
As well as best buddy Merlin, Arya has also been making friends with our Oxhill donkeys – Timothy, Cain, Gloria and Leah, not forgetting the gorgeous mule Trusty who is also one of the gang! They are a big attraction for all our visitors and Arya is proving incredibly popular as our youngest Adoption Star!
As we head towards autumn, don’t forget that Oxhill is open every day until November from 10am to 4pm and entry is completely free! Although we can’t all have gorgeous fluffy coats like Arya to keep us warm on cooler days, our café can offer plenty of hot drinks and snacks to see visitors through chillier weather and lots of undercover areas to stay dry when it’s wet! We’re also extending our all-weather trackway so that even more of our beautiful Warwickshire site is accessible to everyone – whatever the elements throw at us!
