We're is pleased to announce that Joe Stockdale has joined the charity as an official Ambassador, to help us continue to improve the lives of horses across the UK.
British showjumper Joe, whose father was the late Olympic show jumper Tim Stockdale, has a life-long love of equines. He has ridden all his life, starting at Pony Club at four years old and moving onto horses at 12.
After jumping at the British Showjumping National Championships in August 2018, Joe qualified to jump at Horse of the Year Show later that year where he won the Five Fence Challenge and finished 9th in the Grand Prix. Joe took over his father’s yard shortly afterwards when Tim sadly passed away and has been competing at a high level ever since, travelling to the Paris Olympics with the British Showjumping team last year.
Joe first began working with us during our work coordinating Strangles Awareness Week (SAW), an international awareness-raising campaign about the infectious equine disease. He will be donating his time to Redwings for free.
“We’re absolutely thrilled that Joe has become one of Redwings’ official ambassadors.
“He helped us to bring attention to the campaign’s important messages during last year’s SAW along with his sponsor Equine Biogenie and Redwings works closely with SPILLERS, who also sponsor him.
“I’m excited to see what we can do together to improve the lives of horses.”
Joe has adopted Redwings Adoption Stars ‘The Gangsters’ as he loves their names and story.
He said: "I am really proud to join Redwings Horse Sanctuary as an Ambassador as this charity is vital to help support and rehome horses and donkeys. I have adopted The Gangsters, who are a group of five miniature Shetlands and apparently like to get up to a bit of mischief. Just like some of my horses! There are lots of different ways to help or get involved. You can visit one of their centres, meet the horses and see the excellent work they do, or you can get involved virtually."
