Distance: 5.5 miles
Time: 60 minutes
Weather: A welcome return of the sunshine!
What Dennis did: Cheered me on, gave me hoof high fives and was generally a brilliant support!
The Vitality British 10k London Run is just around the corner, so I’m on the home straight of my training and what better last minute inspiration than a visit to Kent to see my dad (aka The Silver Road Runner)?
I even managed to stop off at Epping Forest enroute for a quick run. Sadly there were no horses to be seen, but plenty of big hills and trees to marvel, plus Dennis used to live at our nearby Essex centre, Redwings Ada Cole, so I like to think he was there in spirit.
While in Kent, I also managed a run over the South Downs; I was rather proud of my 5.5 miles in my quickest speed yet, while my dad “nips out” for a casual 10 miler…! It was then back to Norfolk and back to my running route around the Sanctuary, where who should be waiting for me? Dennis!
This is my last pre-race diary entry and I must admit I have thoroughly enjoyed my training. I’ve definitely caught the running bug and plan to keep pushing myself to compete in more races. But for now, let’s smash the British 10K – this one’s for you Dennis!
See you on the other side…
