ITV2 Love Island star lends horse sanctuary a helping hoof

On Sunday 13^th May, the same day that the ITV2 programme won the Best Reality award at the 2018 television BAFTAs, former Love Island star Jonny Mitchell joined in the celebrations at Adoption Star Del Boy’s 16^th birthday party at Redwings Ada Cole.

As part of the Redwings Adoption Scheme we throw each of our Adoption Star donkeys and horses a special party to celebrate their birthdays. Visitors, supporters, adopters and, in this case, celebrities are invited to meet the Adoption Star, join in the celebrations and learn more about our work in rescuing and caring for horses and donkeys in need.

Joined by girlfriend Danielle Zarb-Cousin, Jonny also donned his hat and boots to help our team with grooming residents before enjoying a special tour of the centre to meet some of the almost 90 other rescued horses and donkeys.

Commenting on Jonny and Danielle’s visit, Redwings’ Head of Fundraising Alison Lanchester said: “Jonny approached Redwings looking to lend a helping hand to a charity based in his home county, and we were delighted for him and Danielle to become members of our team for the day.

“Jonny and Danielle are both animal lovers, and were great at getting stuck in! Del Boy’s party also attracted record crowds this year, so the extra hands were a fantastic help too.”
