We would like to thank members of the public who called with concerns about two horses on West Meadows in Bramford, Ipswich yesterday (Monday 3rd April 2017).
An RSPCA inspector attended as a matter of urgency and found the owner had removed the barbed wire that was tangled in one horse’s tail. The foal, which was feared to be collapsed, was up and about. The foal was already under veterinary care and did not present with any new causes for concern.
We are aware of the ongoing concerns about horses on this site and appreciate members of the public calling us. We would also like to assure members of the public that welfare reports are investigated, as this response to the recent report demonstrates.
The RSPCA, Redwings, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Police and the landowner are working hard to improve conditions at the site and ensure the long-term welfare of the horses.
Anyone with first-hand information about new welfare concerns for these horses or concerns for any equine can call the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999 or Redwings Horse Sanctuary on 01508 481008.
In an emergency situation, please call the RSPCA 24-hour line immediately and without delay. Welfare reports cannot be taken via social media.
