We pay tribute to our gorgeous Gulliver

We're terribly sorry to announce that our beloved Adoption Star Gulliver sadly passed away suddenly on Saturday 10th June. He was 17 years old.

Late on Friday 9th June, Gulliver was found by his carers at Redwings Aylsham with a high temperature and nasal discharge. He was immediately put into quarantine while the Redwings vet team ran tests to diagnose the problem.

The following morning, Gulliver was still showing signs of discomfort and was taken to our nearby Horse Hospital so the vet team could give him further medication and fluids in the hope of seeing an improvement.

Unfortunately, imaging of Gulliver’s chest showed signs of severe damage to both his lungs, which the vets believe may have been caused by a pneumonia-type infection.

Sadly, Gulliver’s condition began to deteriorate incredibly rapidly, and the vets had no choice but to make the very difficult decision to put him to sleep to ensure that he did not suffer any further.

Gulliver was a much-loved horse at Redwings Aylsham, who had lived at the Sanctuary from just a few days old, and everyone is desperately sad to have lost him. We’ll never forget his confident and inquisitive nature, and we know you won’t either.
