Ever wondered what it’s like to be a farrier at the UK’s largest horse sanctuary? Don’t miss the chance to hear father and son farriers, Robert and Robbie Rush, as they lay down their rasps long enough to reveal all to fellow farrier Dr Simon Curtis – with a lot of laughs along the way!
Recorded in the forge at Redwings’ Norfolk headquarters site in March 2020, the pair discuss their long-standing commitment to providing to top quality hoof care to horses in an environment where the unusual is all in a day’s work for their team.

Listening to Robert and Robbie, it quickly becomes clear that working with equine welfare organisations and rescued horses is not just rewarding in its own right, but offers unrivalled professional experience that is rarely available to farriers in the wider equestrian world:
Having provided farriery services to Redwings for more than 26 years, Robert has brought around 25 apprentice farriers through their training with Redwings providing the perfect learning experience. As he says of the new cases and constantly evolving job list: “You just never know from one week to the next. It’s exciting!”
